Some commentators are saying that the worst has passed with the indicators of interbank lending showing signs of improvement and the fear in the equities market is starting to decline. Others are saying that the worst is yet to come and that we must move quickly to put our “houses in order” so to speak, and to make sure that we are well positioned to weather what may be coming.
Personally I am taking a more conservative approach and building my buffers through refinancing and selling some properties. Yes I thought I would NEVER SELL however this current set of circumstances has presented some interesting possibilities for the future. Cashed up investors are going to see some amazing deals appear in the coming months.
There is already unbelievable value appearing in the share market. Companies are trading at levels not seen for a decade. So if you are a long term investor then maybe now is a great time to buy. I have been seeing some interesting deals appearing in the property markets as well. It would seem that some investors are over committed and finding it challenging to hold onto some prime real estate. I believe there will be even better deals appearing over the coming 12 months so maybe it is better to sit tight and see what the market presents.
